Cried at 35

So today I turned 35. It has been the most emotional birthday yet. I am not quite sure if it was because today is my birthday or if its just an emotional day.  Perhaps it has to do with the amount of chaos an adult handles at this point in their life with friends and family. I was actually sad today. I mean I absolutely adored the gift scavenger hunt the girls lead me on at 645 am the morning. That was wonderful, joyous & fulfilling. But I was emotional and sad today. I was faced with a lot of memories & quick glimpse of my life in flashes. In these visions I saw crying, fighting, joy, laughter, love, sadness, fear, accomplishment, challenge, fast, slow & everything in between.

So whether it has to do with today being the start of my 36th year venture or not, I am going to take a moment to declare some changes, focus’s & dreams. If I were my 70 year old self, what would I say to my 35 year old self.

Heather

Don’t work your life away. Spend time with the people you love. You have faith and trust in the Lord don’t live it part of the time, live it all of the time.

Ask Him to show you every morning “What else can I give you, that I haven’t already”.

His desire is for you to live a joyful, fulfilled life.

Take a moment each day to breath in your blessings.

Think about what you are doing that requires God & what you are doing that only requires your own strength and talents. Allowing God to use you is way less exhausting.

Ask God to show you how to spend time with the beautiful daughters of yours. Time that will create memories and have a lasting impression. Make this a priority.

Look people in the eyes. So much is missed when you don’t see someone’s spirit by looking them in the eyes.

See the beauty in all of God’s creation, it is breath taking. Take a moment every day and ask God to reveal the beauty around. The beauty that so many people are missing in this fast paced life.

Listen to the songs lyrics people are speaking in, there is a melody, we just don’t take the time to listen.

Love on each other first above all else. Above correction, above expression, above solving problems, above success, above challenges, above progress, LOVE.

Know that God will take care of your future, do not waste these precious moments worrying about the next 35 years, enjoy them.

Don’t skip any moment sharing what God’s heart is to others. Too many people skip these moments, they race past them, they avoid them, they see them as insignificant, don’t skip any of these moments. Share the heart of God with everyone you can.

Be Jesus, be Jesus’s hands, feet, voice & vessel.

I thank God for this moment in time. For slowing down, for the revelations, for the blessings of that still small voice. I hope this poetic glimpse of the rest of my life is a blessing to you.

Take Back Your Life

Some of us may not realize that we have molded into a life that is controlled by other people. As much as all this new technology keeps us moving, involved, and in the know, it has created a world where all we do is respond to other people’s demands.

Take a second to think about it.

How many notifications do you have on your phone right now? How many instant messenger, emails, games, likes and comments from recent post or even notifications for items that are selling near you….the list goes on and on. Does your phone beep, vibrate or light up everytime your are “notified” of something. I mean it’s super important right? It makes us feel busy, active, involved and  important?

When did we start making these words synonyms? They do not mean this same thing. Busy does not mean important nor does it mean productive. Constantly responding to other people or electronic demands of our time is blinding. When is the last time you took a moment to think and meditate on exactly how you’d like your day to go? Who would you love to have a conversation with? Who would you enjoy sharing one-on-one time with? Do you realize you can create your day?

The best quote ever said to me…so far…

Heather….are you coming at your day or is your day coming at you?

That is the day every single notification what turned off on my phone and my phone set to silent. That’s right. I have ZERO notifications, no vibrations, no dings, rings or fancy chimes. Zip, zero, nada, none.

My life has changed drastically. I come at my day. I am more at peace then I ever have been. I don’t have anxiety nor do I feel rushed or obligated. I spend 50% more time with my family. I have several more meaningful conversations. I am in the here and the now with the people I chose to spend my time with.

How amazing would that feel for you?

Let’s talk about this. How do you feel? What do you foresee as speed bump or issues you would run into?

Unrelenting Passion

Your Passion will always have a connection to your life like an unrelenting string or rope. Sometimes it is only a sewing string barely hanging on & sometimes its an unbreakable chain. Most of us although are somewhere between a sewing string and perhaps a 1/4″ size rope. Our passion has been criticized, stomped on, forgotten, lost and sometimes just thrown out. Why does it always seem to hold on? Why does it always seem to prick our thoughts when we least expect it.

To be honest the most I am reminded of passions is when I meet someone that has achieved something I so desired to achieve at some point in my life.

*The first thoughts are reminders of the Happy Feelings I received in thought

*The next were the excuses & life circumstances that prevented me from achieving

*The last was the overwhelming depressed feeling of failure

Had any of these thoughts recently?

I have come to the understanding that Your Passions in Life are actually millions of seeds that were planted & ordained to grow. Matter of Fact these seeds were meant to Flourish! Picture an empty 100 acre track of land. Now consider your creator walking in a weaving path dropping seeds on this empty track. As time progressed some seeds sprouted, other grew & some never saw the light of day. Now think of the environment this land has seen.

Some days are sunny, some raining, some storms & come and wiped out everything. Some trampling has occurred. Perhaps you are imagining crowds running through your track colorful, beautiful flower garden. Some are imagining monster trucks having a heyday on all of your rose bushes & fruit trees. Some are literally imagining a tractor tilling up all the land & demolishing any evidence of life leaving only soft, dry, icky brown dirt.

As we talk about passion & love we can be reminded of our dreams. Some of you may have a harder time & some of you may recall instantly. In ALL cases these passions will always be a part of your creation. In every case above, the seeds could never become unplanted. They never are removed from you.

Allow yourself to revisit your Passions. Write them down. You can even take note on why you have that passion and what would come out of you pursuing that passion. Take captive of negative talk, do not allow yourself to believe those passions will not come to pass or that it is too late. If you have not started a Journal I encourage you to begin one now.

Write at the Top “My Passions are Unrelenting”

  1. What 3 Passions do I have.
  2. Compliment these with Goals that you have let lay dormant. Whether they match or not. Journaling may allow somethings come to the forefront of your mind that need expressing.
  3. Journal the images that your mind creates. “When I think about these passions I see…”
  4. If someone were to pursue these passions what character strengths would they need? For example “This would require someone to be Strong, Loving, Intuitive, Positive, Knowledgeable, Caring, Inspiring…”
  5. Then Create 3 “I statements”
    1. I am Loving
    2. I Inspire others around me
    3. I am a Strong Woman/Man
  6. You can end your journal entry with a promise to yourself or a prayer to God. Ask Him to stir these desires & help be your encourager everyday as you pursue your passions once again.

Your Passions are Unrelenting because you were Designed for Greatness -Heather
